GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 311332
Meta bug for tracking the bugs of Persian support
Last modified: 2020-11-24 10:15:52 UTC
Please describe the problem: Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
Bug 147659: Pango: Hyphenation
Bug 168108: Allow Unicode format characters to be injected into source
Bug 306639: Pango: Zero width characters in arabic shaper
Please add a line like Behnam does when hooking up new bugs here. I have changed bug settings such that this doesn't count in open bugs count.
Bug 136059: Ctrl-navigation works in opposite direction in right-to-left text
bug 311409
Farzaneh: The bug numbers and links to them are already available when you hook up a bug, and duplicating that doesn't help. I'm asking that you copy the bug number AND title (and module perhaps) as a comment, so one can get enough information by reading the bugzilla notification email. And please make all your changes and submit once, instead of hooking up the bug once, adding a comment in next, and then CCing somebody in another commit, etc... Thanks.
Bug 312006: Adding BidiAssist to gedit's cvs
Bug 312131: Build breaks without recent GNU gettext
Bug 303381: numerical widgets use European digits in locales with localized digits
Bug 312600 -- GTK+ -- Auto/Manual managing of input features in context menus
Bug 64538 -- Pango -- pango_layout_set_justify() doesn't work
Bug 149886 -- gnome-panel -- RTL support - panel contents order should be reversed ?
Bug 317103: RTL direction in Yelp
Bug 171714: "کامپیوتر" should be replaced by "رایانه"
Bug 170180: Pango mistakenly inserts harakat ligatures for Arabic
Bug 317171: latin numbers in calendar
Bug 317483 -- GtkHtml -- Composer does not handle BIDI/RTL correctly
Bug 317677 -- evolution Mailer -- The default order of the columns needs to be reversed in right-to-left locales.
Bug 314988: GtkHtml RTL editing is completely broken
Removing bug 314988 from dependencies, since the bug seems to be only Hebrew-related. Nobody has confirmed the bug for the Arabic script, and neither could I.
Also removing: Bug 147659: Hyphenation We hardly ever want hyphenation, not anytime soon at least! And there's nothing Arabic/Persian/Bidi specific about it either.
Bug 322042: Buggy RTL support for statusbar
Bug 325714 – Pango should respect $LANGUAGES
Bug 327854 – pango fc modules should be able to list themselves as needing fonts with certain capabilities
Bug 328053 – gnome-themes – GtkTreeView's title bar's borders isn't shown properly in RTL applications
Humm, a point worth mentioning, when you patch any app/lib to use localized digits, do not use _("%d"). See the last comment (number 4) in bug 317171.
Bug 329099 – gedit mdi title bar doesn't display properly in RTL
Bug 329099 title chenged to: gtk_misc_set_padding fails with labels in RTL locales
Bug 330915 – vfolder description message is not marked as localizable
Bug 332665 – "Select Contacts from Address Book" doesn't work fine with non-ASCII names
Bug 324604 – Non-ascii characters generate trash in address lists
Bug 261457 – iso-8859* encoding problem of name in contact List
It seems the last 3 bugs listed are the same. Bug 332665, Bug 324604 and Bug 261457
Bug 157439 – The "adding to panel" is buggy when switching to an rtl environment (I have not permission to make the dependency from #157439 to this Meta bug, whould someone do it?)
Bug 332984 – Broken contact info in status bar for contacts with LTR names in RTL locales
Bug 341896 – gtktreeview has RTL problems with toggle buttons if using gtktreestore as a model Bug 341899 – Message showing background image size and type is not localized
Bug 341918 – message not marked for translation in ec-job-list.c
Bug 342009 – nautilus icon arrangement in RTL mode
Bug 342417 – gthumb arranges its thumbnails left to right in RTL mode
Hey Folks :) Could we set this bug to something else than NEEDINFO. Maybe NEW is appropriate since this is a bug (which depends on a lot of other bugs) which is needed to be fixed. I'm setting this bug as NEW, feel free to change it if you don't like it.
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all older tickets in GNOME Bugzilla. If this is still a valid request in a recent and currently supported version of GNOME, then please feel free to use https://gitlab.gnome.org/groups/GNOME/-/issues and/or (if this ticket is about a general Initiative) check the `9. Initiative` labels on https://gitlab.gnome.org/groups/GNOME/-/labels if they should be applied on codebase-specific tickets in GitLab. Thanks.
