GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 661731
No notifications from MUC when using the Shell
Last modified: 2012-03-28 11:49:29 UTC
"Notify for All Messages" has no effect when running Empathy under Gnome Shell under Ubuntu 11.10.
What does that mean? Do you receive notifications at all? If yes, what works?
I receive the usual one-to-one message notifications, but the "Notify for All Messages" option in group chats doesn't seem to have any effect. Sorry about missing the "group chat" part in the original report, I though I mentioned it.
You're right, this option doesn't make sense in gnome-shell; we should hide it.
Actually the whole notification tab is supposed to be hidden when using the Shell. It's not on your computer? Are you using Empathy 3.2? Did you start empathy when running the Shell or did you start empathy first?
Empathy 3.2, started after the Shell. I do see the Notification tab in the preferences, though the option in question is just a menu item in group chat windows.
Ah ok, that's another option then. Yeah that's tricky. Ideall I guess this should be implemented by the Shell now.

This also affects notifications when someone say your name in a muc : bug #665788 I think the right solution for this is to stop filtering all the empathy notifications in the Shell and don't create the one we want to discard when the Shell is running (we already have code checking that).

in addition None of the pings give any audio notifications. I can understand if some ping is there channels only opening the chat window. but no visual pop are coming.
Hi, can I ask when this bug will be corrected ? Thanks :)
Fixed with bug #652800 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 652800 ***
