GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 593431
Drag to folder tree not enabled
Last modified: 2010-04-28 17:25:02 UTC
Drag and drop between gThumb and Nautilus is erratic. If you click and hold to drag, sometimes it drags, but sometimes it opens the image instead (like a double-click). Also, drag and drop doesn't work from browser to the folder treeview. - Mike
drag-and-drop to Nautilus works well now. drag-and-drop to the folder tree is still not enabled. Renaming bug. - Mike

A workaround to allow easier moving until tree view accepts drop could be that right clicking on a folder (to select "paste into folder") would not go into the folder. Anyway I think that right click on a folder should not go there so maybe I should open another report for it :)
drag-and-drop is now enabled in the folder tree, and right-clicking doesn't select the folder anymore.

Only two small things: 1) Scrolling while dragging should have variable speed. Currently going through a long list of directories while having files dragged can be time consuming. No idea if this is doable, though. 2) The directory which has been right-clicked should always be selected. (Only selected, not opened.) Currently one cannot be sure that he has clicked on the correct directory since there is no indication about which directory will receive the files.
Point 2 is fixed now. I'm not sure about point 1 since that is the default behavior of the gth_tree_view widget, and a consistent behavior for all the tree views is good for usability. Maybe you can file a request in the gtk product.
