GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 592444
Hidden and Offline share the same icon
Last modified: 2010-02-11 11:09:00 UTC
Currently the "hidden" and "offline" states (see chooser) have the same icon (offline). The point of the icon is to give information of the state at one glance. Currently this is not possible, you still have to read the label behind the icon to know which one it actually is. FYI, gnome-icon-theme (one-canvas branch for GNOME 3.0) already has a very nice invisible icon. Short term, for GNOME 2.28, maybe we could just include a slightly modified version of the "online" icon (making the green ball gray and/or transparent for example?) for this?

I agree, we should use a different icon.

Created attachment 141355 [details] "user-invisible" from gnome-icon-theme 3.0 For reference, here is the very cute "user-invisible" from gnome-icon-theme one-canvas (3.0).
Hi, do you know if gnome-icon-theme will release with the one-canvas branch merged? if so, every status icon should be changed to the ones provided (bug 584262)
I am not 100% sure but the latest (and only) 2.27.x release is still the "old" g-i-t., so most likely "no". One option would be to just copy the whole set from one-canvas for 2.28, but given that UI freeze is already today... :/ So IMHO it would be best to push some slightly modified icon for this into 2.28 which will also make the switch to the one-canvas icons easier in 2.29.
duplicate of bug 579936 ?
