GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 590406
AqBanking wizard fails to get accounts: ofxconnect, UK Nationwide, potential TLSv3
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:25:39 UTC
Please describe the problem: User details have been setup in the AqBanking wizard for ofxconnect retrieval. When pressing the button to download accounts, the transaction fails due to a gnutls problem with TLS packet length. This problem occurred with UK Nationwide online banking. Steps to reproduce: 1. Setup a user to download from Nationwide (UK) 2. On OFC tab of User Configuration press Get Accounts 3. Actual results: Found Finance::Quote version 1.13 3:2009/07/31 20-41-22:aqbanking(3779):qbanking.cpp: 420: No Qt translation found for your language en 3:2009/07/31 20-41-37:gwen(3779):io_tls.c: 1154: gnutls_handshake: -9 (A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.) [fatal] 3:2009/07/31 20-41-37:(null)(3779):provider.c: 659: Error exchanging getAccounts-request (-66) 3:2009/07/31 20-41-37:qt3_wizard(3779):cfgtabpageuserofx.cpp: 283: Error requesting account list Expected results: Account list should be downloaded from the bank. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
The message "gnutls_handshake: -9 (A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.)" is very likely related to TLSv3. Can you please retry with the box "Force TLSv3" checked?
I have tried again with the Force TLSv3 checkbox ticked and I still get the same error. This problem also occurs on the Win32 build, but I don't have the debug output on the console to provide in this instance. From the Linux build (now 2.3.4): 3:2009/08/23 19-40-21:gwen(3647):io_tls.c: 1154: gnutls_handshake: -9 (A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.) [fatal] 3:2009/08/23 19-40-21:(null)(3647):provider.c: 659: Error exchanging getAccounts-request (-66) 3:2009/08/23 19-40-21:qt3_wizard(3647):cfgtabpageuserofx.cpp: 283: Error requesting account list

What OFX server URL do you use?
I am using https://pfmanagement.nationet.com/OFXSecurity/OFX_SSL_128.dll and all other parameters are setup as described in http://www.terabytelabs.net/gnucash-and-nationwide/
As of 22nd October 2009, Nationwide have withdrawn their OFX download service due to ending support for Microsoft Money. I will therefore no longer be able to test any fixes to this bug.
