GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 588982
Update User Documentation markup to be consistent with GNOME.
Last modified: 2013-09-13 01:10:44 UTC
Doesn't make sense to provide a patch, hence attaching the last three days' work here as the entire file. See http://live.gnome.org/AndreKlapper/EvoDocRewrite . Basically removed ~100 strings (there's really no sense in mentioning options in long list and not adding any further explanation) and refactored a lot (splitting up etc). Should at least save two hours of translators' time. Please DO NOT commit this.
Created attachment 138705 [details] Initial version, totally unfinished Attaching before the next headcrash takes place. ;-)

Created attachment 139088 [details] next version Removed some useless non-explaining sentences. Make "Thunderbird" default other mailer instead of "Mozilla or Netscape". Remove "Netscape" completely.
Created attachment 139092 [details] [review] next version Move "Command Line Options" to "Advanced Configuration". No normal user is interested in this. Remove unused glossary entries.
Created attachment 139095 [details] next version Remove useless repetition of items listed in the Quick Reference PDF file. Instead advice user to open that file and print it from there.
Andre, any time line / plan to commit the changes or you are waiting for a review ?
Currently wondering whether it makes sense at all. Huge burden for translators, plus I'd prefer to move to the Mallard doc style, but I don't think that anybody has time and/or ressources for that. I'm undecided.
Still not sure? I guess there are not many people, nor manpower, for a review of this, thus I'm marking the patch as reviewed to get rid of it from the unreviewed patch filter. And I also believe you know what you are doing, thus feel free to commit when you'll be decided and the other rules allows you to do so. Just before string freeze is not as that bad time, though within the first development release of a new version might be even better. Up to you.
Setting Whiteboard status. Its good for the Doc team to build on Andre's work, than start from scratch. and yeah hope we'll move to the Mallard doc style very soon :)
I don't plan to work on this and I don't think it makes any sense anymore. Efforts should be spent on rewrite in Mallard at http://gitorious.org/evolution-docs/evolution-docs instead. Closing as WONTFIX.
