Description Milan Crha 2009-02-25 18:45:59 UTC
Moving this upstream from:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487260

If you have a vfolder refer to another vfolder it doesn't work in Fed-10

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
evolution-0:2.24.4-1.fc10.x86_64

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't find any opened bug for this, even it was mentioned in bug #557618 comment #2 that this is not supported yet.

Could we get the milestone on this bug updated so that we can have at least some expectation as to when this will be working again and not left hanging wondering, indefinitely?

I would like to see the priority or severity increased as well to reflect that this is a functionality regression for a feature that has no workarounds at all, given the inflexibility of the syntax for including (excluding) messages from a single vfolder.
Comment 2 Andrew J. Montalenti 2009-04-07 03:56:07 UTC
*bump*. I just upgraded from Hardy -> Intrepid on Ubuntu, which bumped my
Evolution version up to 2.24.3. Most of my VFolders are no useless,
since I had a whole bunch of VFolders that referenced other VFolders.
These worked perfectly well in 2.22 but they don't work at all in 2.24.

This isn't just an esoteric use case. All my mail comes into various
subfolders of my Inbox, based on the originating account. I then
aggregate all this mail into a "Virtual Inbox" which I call "All Mail".
All of my other VFolders then operate on the "All Mail" VFolder.
Therefore, this upgrade has broken all of my VFolders (all ~40 or so)
except for the "All Mail" one. It's pretty serious, IMO.

Evo patch

With both these patches, vfolder of vfolders should be fine.

Yah oh yay oh yay! Can I say yay one more time? :-)

Will these likely make it into 2.26.1 or will they wait for 2.28/3.0? On that note, will they apply to 2.26.0 (or in fact the svn checkout that is currently in Ubuntu Jaunty -- if you happen to know)?

When I can carve out a minute to rebuild both evo and eds, I will apply these and see how well they work.

Much, much, much thanx!

I guess the answer to that is no given that 2.26.1 showed up today. :-(

How about a 2.26.2? :-)

And given 2.26.1 is out, will these patches apply to that?

I gotta say yay one more time!

I just built an evo/eds 2.26.1 with the two patches here and it works! It works!

I have yet to really exhaust it, but initially, at least I can see messages in the vfolders of vfolders!

Awesome, Srinivasa, just awesome!

Many thanx!

Would be committed to master/stable = 2.26.2 / 2.27.1
Comment 9 Srinivasa Ragavan 2009-05-03 15:25:35 UTC
