GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 557618
Evolution search folder displays no messages but displays correct message count
Last modified: 2009-06-21 04:25:44 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/285419 "Created a search folder with rule "Match all", set to track some local folders and some IMAP folders. When browsing the newly created search folder, the title bar displays the correct total count of messages, but where the list should be it says "There are no messages in this folder"."
In my case, evolution does not display the correct message count. I've posted some screenshots in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/285419
Seb, vfolder of vfolder isn't supported. If the user has it, it won't be loaded. But counts are unrealiable in that case. So I suggest user to refactor the query to not to create a vfolder of a vfolder.

Comment on attachment 122938 [details] Incorrect message count Ok, vfolder of vfolder is not supported, but doing this didn't work for me(see screenshot) PS: I think the title of this issue is wrong, in my case it would be: "Evolution search folder displays displays incorrect message count"
Im fixing the counts. There are always some loop holes that Im missing.
Same here: I have an "Unread messages" search folder on "all active remote folders" - the folder caption says I have a number of messages unread, whereas none of the folders have any messages. On one occasion I even got a negative unread messages count!

I have a problem to negative unread message count. See the image above. To fix it I go to virtual folders property, change the rule, click on ok, return to property, revert the rule as previous (to match correctly) and click ok.... Usually it works to fix it this problem...

uhm, I wrongly believe this solves ths problem, but after restart evolution, the problem remains. This problem is not deterministic, it can occur on any sometime on certain folders, sometimes on other...

Some issues with incorrect unread counts are being addressed in bug 557348.
Any one can confirm with 2.24.3 or latest stable? Lots of things fixed. Counts are re-done for vfolders, which it manually counts than the search for count.
I think count is now fixed with 2.24.3...
Seems fixed on 2.24.3 (ubuntu intrepid ibex)
Incredible. Seems fixed here too.
Well, it was fixed, but the problem is back as of today. Not sure what caused it to start, but my custom search folder has about 20 messages in it, and is reporting about 1,000. The unread count is correct for the moment though. Expunging seems to fix the problem.
This should be fixed. Can you confirm and reopen, if you still see it. Thanks.
Sorry, I'm not using Evolution anymore. Too many critical bugs kept crashing it and driving me nuts. Had to switch to T-bird.
