Comment 2 Vincent Untz 2008-06-19 14:21:48 UTC
Interesting stuff. How do you think the icons should be reordered? With a dialog?
Comment 3 Jan Arne Petersen 2008-06-19 14:42:47 UTC
A dialog would be fine. We should also store the _NET_WM_ICON property to be able to display a nice icon beside the name in the dialog.
Comment 4 Vincent Untz 2008-08-04 02:17:22 UTC
Hrm. The schema file doesn't appear in the patch. Could you update it?

There is a request about that on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392131
Comment 8 Romulo Fernandes 2009-11-11 13:21:29 UTC
this bug is really bothering me, adding to my cc
Comment 9 Jeremy Nickurak 2009-11-28 23:21:49 UTC
Certain icons should certainly be grouped together... for example, ubuntu uses an icon for output volume and input volume. At least on my system, they're rarely side-by-side.
Comment 10 Spiros Kavadias 2010-01-27 13:28:24 UTC
Indeed a really annoying one. Gives the impression that the desktop is anything but consistent in its behavior.
Comment 11 Jeremy Nickurak 2010-02-02 20:54:46 UTC
Certainly related to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583115
Comment 12 André Klapper 2020-11-07 12:14:07 UTC
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
