Description Tobias Mueller 2007-08-23 14:36:02 UTC
Currently, the UI is a bit messy to some of us.

I think "Advanced Setup Page" would be nice, since you can move away not-so-much-used settings from the current "Evolution Preferences" dialog to a somewhat more hidden place where all the advanced stuff takes place. OTH the user is not forced to use the gconf-editor to set advanced settings (which is good).

This page could probably be implemented as a plugin, hooking up the "Evolution Preferences" dialog and displaying an "Advanced..." button in the lower right corner.

I'd like to keep track of things which should be moved off the main configuration dialog by marking this bug as dependent on other bugs.

Feel free to add other things you'd like to see in or move to an "Advanced Configuration" page.

hmm. "advanced" often means nothing to the user. but i got the point, yes.
a button would be bad imho, would prefer to have another item in the list at the left.

Bumping version to a stable release.
Comment 3 Milan Crha 2012-06-14 09:10:32 UTC
It can be Advanced Settings to Mailer, Calendar, Contacts, .... You know, context specific Advanced settings.

As I already wrote on the mailing list ( https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2012-June/msg00010.html ), "Discussing what is Advanced and what is a Basic Setting takes ages and is hard."
If you want to spend time on it I'm looking forward to proposals on the ml.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
