GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 413538
Should use pluggable keybinding
Last modified: 2011-07-10 02:25:56 UTC
See bug 410758 Should be a matter of dropping a .xml file in a directory.
Great, waiting for 2.20
Raphael, feel free to comment on the integration in the original bug, and let us know whether there are any problems with it.
Created attachment 95270 [details] [review] Add hot-key of Deskbar-Applet to gnome-control-center
You're missing the package in the .xml file, so the label for the key won't be translated. http://live.gnome.org/ControlCenter/ApplicationDefinedKeybindings You'll also want to change the schemas to have a useful description for the key, because: <short>Keybinding</short> showing up in the keybindings capplet is a bit, hmm, unclear.

Looks good to me.
That has also been requested on https://bugs.launchpad.net/deskbar-applet/+bug/139056
Any news on this one ?
I'm still waiting for a way to bind the key, too (See bug 349308).
(In reply to comment #9) > I'm still waiting for a way to bind the key, too (See bug 349308). I don't understand what you're waiting for here. We didn't provide a way to bind the key before, and we don't now either. The only difference is that you won't have the egg code to bind your key in your own application anymore.
I wasn't clear enough, sorry for that. I know that you don't provide a way to bind the key. I'm waiting for a better way to bind the key, because gnome-control-center can recognize multimedia keys, but the tomboy keybinder can't bind them. Therefore, I stick with the custom widget within Deskbar that only recognizes those keys that tomboy keybinder can actually bind. As soon as a solution is available that can bind these keys, too, we switch to gnome-control-center.
OK. Added a dep.
deskbar-applet development has been stalled [1]. Maintainers don't have future development plan so i am closing the bugs as WONTFIX. [1] http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2011-June/msg00073.html
