GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 348651
[cmsSetLanguage] switching between images
Last modified: 2007-09-10 23:08:10 UTC
What were you doing when the app crashed?: I see images in full screen, and quit full screen and crash. Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Can you get us one with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so.
Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen this bug if you can provide the information asked for. Thanks!
REOPENing due to duplicate.

Bug #358653 report contains a stack trace with some symbols. don't know if that helps.

I can reproduce the crash by - putting 2 jpeg pictures in a directory - open one with Eye of Gnome - Hit F11 until the application crashes I have not tested other than jpeg file formats. The files I used were 1.3 MB - 2 MB in size. It did not seem that the crash depended on a particular image (I tested three sets of pictures). The crash does *not* ocur with only one picture in the directory.
no idea why this is set to NEEDINFO, we have a perfect stacktrace with line numbers here, also see bug 367699. confirming as per duplicates.

Andre, I just checked all duplicates - all of them have missing frames. Where is the perfect trace that made you remove the NEEDINFO state? ALso, do not trust blindly other people's, especially reporter's duplications. Don't triage half asleep, dude. Bruno, be careful, you dupe bugs with totally different traces, altough considering the description they might be duplicates. Max's trace misses frame #5.
Thank you all for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, that stack trace is missing some elements that will help a lot to solve the problem, so it will be hard for the developers to fix that crash. Can you get us a stack trace with debugging symbols? Please see http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so. Thanks in advance!
(In reply to comment #36) > Bruno, be careful, you dupe bugs with totally different traces, altough > considering the description they might be duplicates. Christian: Sorry about that, I must have been typed the wrong bug number when I mark duplicate. I´ll reopen the bug #373107 and the bug #373721, to check where I made the mistake.

Christian: thanks for the hint, i normally don't trust blindly other people's duplications, but in this case i knew the reporter and trust(ed) him - can turn out wrong, yeah.

Created attachment 78860 [details] eog bug stacktrace i have never posted in a bug before so forgive me if i'm not following protocol. i compared the current stacktrace to my own, and there were a few differences, so i thought i'd share. if there is more information still needed, please let me know how i can obtain it as i am able to recreate the situation at will.

dmizer, Thank you for your stacktrace. We do prefer to paste stacktraces into the comments instead of attaching them to the report. dmizer, your actions were fine. Claudio, actually attaching them is better. If traces are not useful, it prevents cluttering. If traces differ from the original one, it prevents confusing our internal duplicate finder script. As you just can see they do differ, but they may be simliar or even caused by the same bug.

Seeing traces like in bug 425957 it appears to me that this might actually be the same problem as bug 354106. Maybe just a broken stack pointer? cmSetLanguage is as far as I can see nowhere called directly (neither in EOG nor in lcms).

With the rewrite of the EOG core in the eog-ng branch, now trunk, this bug is no longer reproducible. Closing as FIXED. Fixed in the development version. The fix will be available with the next major release.
