GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 335168
Should differentiate same-name albums from different artists
Last modified: 2018-05-24 11:30:33 UTC
Please describe the problem: CD's with the same name should not be grouped in the browser Example: Bryan Adams - Unplugged is not Eric Clapton - Unplugged Same goes for "The Best" and "Best Of" albums, etc The hard part is to do this right for mixed-artist albums of course. Also, how should these be represented in the album browser. like: Unplugged (Eric Clapton) Unplugged (Bryan Adams) perhaps? Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:

This would also need to work for Various Artist albums. I have The Beatles "1" and a Various Artist "1" that are being merged. It could pull out the "Album Artist" name to differentiate my Various Artists album from The Beatles. The only way that I can immediately think of to differentiate two Various Artists albums with the same name would be to do it on the basis of the MusicBrainz album/release ID, if present. All of these methods (and any others people come up with) could be cumulative, as if it has a different Album Artist or MB release ID, it should be split.
