GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 325146
Cache search results
Last modified: 2021-06-18 15:15:53 UTC
There are times where I have to search a huge number of files and folders. It would be nice to be able to save the search results so I can view the results at a later date.
I totally agree on this point. Nautilus should cache the result of previous searchs to speed up display result. Perhaps a message should advise the result of the search is cached and it is not represative of the actual content.
"This search result is cached for speed and may be out of date. To get a more recent version of these results please _click_here_ or search again."

Recursive search with the simple engine has been now turned back on in git master, together with an incremental load of the search directory. The caching part of this bug is still left to be implemented, so keeping this open and retitling.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
