Description Waren Sturm 2005-02-18 04:36:53 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg)
Package: Evolution
Priority: Normal
Version: GNOME2.8.0 2.0.2
Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc
Synopsis: Reading long message with http links in caret mode
Bugzilla-Product: Evolution
Bugzilla-Component: Mailer
Bugzilla-Version: 2.0.2
Description:
Description of Problem:
When reading a long message, for example, if you click on one of the
http links
while Caret Mode is set the location in the message will jump to the
bottom of the message.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. open up your Linux Today News message
2. Make sure Caret Mode is set View->Message Display->Caret Mode should
be checked
3. scroll down the message and click on the http link

Actual Results:

The display jumps to the bottom of the message.

Expected Results:

Perhaps this is the expected result. Turning off Caret Mode - the
display remains where it was last positioned

How often does this happen?

Always when Caret Mode is set.

Additional Information:

I am not sure how Caret mode got set initially but it was always an
annoyance when visiting a link to have to find my place in the text
again. Click on some text near/around the link and the display would
remain more or less where it started. If you scrolled a ways away
from where you clicked and then visited a link, the display would jump
to where you last clicked displayed at the top of the message area.

cannot reproduce in evo 2.11.3/gtkhtml 3.15.3, should be fixed by the patch committed for bug 374869.
