Description Michael Braun 2006-08-02 11:38:11 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Hi,

I used the newest version of evolution in my Mandriva cooker system (2.7.90) and in the mail screen the "focus" jumps to the end of an HTML mail while opening. You you can't scroll back until all elements (images etc.) are loaded. Plain
text mails do not have this problem.

Regards,
Michael

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have a HTML mail
2. Open it inline or outline
3. The focus automatically jumps down untill all elements are loaded

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?
With HTML mails every time, with plain text mails I have no problems.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

Michael, I am pretty sure this is a duplicate of bug 272708 or a similar one. Can you please verify this? If I am wrong, please feel free to re-open this report immediately.

Your issue most likely is, that you accidentally enabled View / Caret Mode, which can be enabled (actually toggled) by hitting F7.

If you disable View / Caret Mode, does this solve your problem?

Hi Karsten,

thanks for your fast answer. Yes it looks like the problem I saw. I've deactivated the "Caret Mode" and the problem is gone. I've activated the mode without knowing it. ;-) But is it a BUG or is it a feature?

Regards,
Michael

Thanks for confirming the dupe, Michael. Enabling Caret Mode by accident is pretty easy. Been there myself. :)

Yes, this is a bug. Well, the "scrolling" behavior with enabled Caret Mode. That's why bug 272708 still is open. (The easy-to-reach access key is not a bug, cause it is common to use F7 for exactly this.)
