Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you
are doing.
Description of Problem:
I am using Evolution 1.5.2. After the cvs build on 12 Jan 2004, i see a few
changes in the way the buttons [ like "new", "Send/Recieve" , etc ] are
displayed. They seem to be huge in size. :-)

All the buttons consistently have a image on the top half of a button [ Ex:
Send/Recieve ] and the label containing the name of the label in the bottom
half. But, for the "New" mail button, has the image and the label in the
same horizontal line. :-)

May be it is this one button that is giving the feeling that the buttons
are bit huge

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.
2.
3.

I would also like to have a little more breathing space, all the icons
at the top can be reduced to half their size, Maybe also remove the
text from them, I can help in making smaller images if you want me to.
The search facility at the top is not required (atleast I never use it).

At the bottom, we only have the status bar with the connection tool.
We can make some space here. Maybe display the status using a small
popup at the bottom instead of keeping a bar occupying that space all
the time.

I am on 1.5.90. I do love the quick access to various tools at the
bottom left (Mails, Contacts, etc), I wish I could right click them
and say open in a new window.
Comment 2 Jeffrey Stedfast 2004-08-05 18:10:39 UTC
the icon sizes are the size for all gnome apps. changing them would
make evolution not comply with the gnome HIG. this would be bad.
Comment 3 André Klapper 2005-02-09 17:31:11 UTC
amish: hiding the search bar is bug 211802;
showing buttons in the toolbar depends on the gnome settings;
one can hide the toolbar in evolution;
and i have also seen the wish to open a new window by right-clicking
on a component button (cannot find the bug though). so what am i
missing? perhaps we should generalize this to be a "i'd like to hide
several toolbars"-bug, e.g. the email composer window bars.
Comment 4 Rodney Dawes 2005-02-22 21:19:15 UTC
This is just the fact that the New button doesn't follow the gnome
toolbar settings, and always displays the icon and label. It needs to
be fixed to follow the settings and also to use more appropriately
sized icons. This needs to be punted to 2.3 though.

Reopening :)

Andre, this is not a dupe of 262210. This is about the placement of text and icons where as the other is about the paint of the button.

Fixed to HEAD.
