GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 211802
Option to hide message search bar
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:44:44 UTC
The message list search is rather confusing. While certainly convenient, I constantly forget that it is even there. I usually search in the edit or the actions menu for the Search for Message features. Yes, it probably just means that I'm stupid, but there really should be an option in the Actions menu to show a seperate message list dialog. Also, there should be an option to remove the embedded message search bar in the message list, for users who want more screen real-estate dedicated to the message list.
the ui in this respect seems pretty stable, and unlikley to change. anna?

still in 2.0.3. although i personally want this to be a WONTFIX, an option in "View" with a checkbox for "Show search bar" would be nice for people running low resolutions. removing probabledup keyword since i'm very sure this isn't one.

Bumping version to a stable release.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
