GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 534729
Evolution: Email messages deleted from POP server
Last modified: 2010-04-01 03:26:21 UTC
Please describe the problem: I have Evolution setup on two machines, and this problem is the same on both machines. Both machines are brand new fresh installs of Ubuntu 8.04 I have setup a POP3 account in Evolution and checked "Leave messages on server" yet Evolution keeps deleting the messages from the server. I have deleted the account and tried to set it up again and again but I get the same problem on both machines. Please help! Steps to reproduce: 1. In Evolution and checked "Leave messages on server" yet Evolution keeps deleting the messages from the POP email server 2. 3. Actual results: Evolution keeps deleting the messages from the POP email server Expected results: I would expect my emails to remain on the POP server. This is a big problem as I have no backup on my POP3 server of my emails. Does this happen every time? Always. Other information:
Please email me at geoffmak@gmail.com if anyone has suggestions how to fix this.
Well - use IMAP. This is really abusing POP, especially when using two computers to download.

last dupe in 2.28.x
This is working properly for me, I have a POP account, in "Receiving options" tab is checked "Leave messages on the server", and both "Delete after X day(s)" and "Disable support for all POP3 extensions" are unchecked and I can download my POP3 messages from multiple machines. Maybe try to run Evolution as this: $ CAMEL_DEBUG=1 evolution &>camel.log and see what it does with your server, whether it sends a DEL request to it or not. If you'll change anything in the account preferences, rather close evolution and run it again, to be sure your changes are in the effect.
bug 614388 looks duplicate but that has patch to solve the problem.
