Description Edd Dumbill 2004-06-01 10:28:36 UTC
Forwarded from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=221772

(though reported against the 1.0 series, I verified this is still an issue in
the 1.2 series)

From: "Marcelo E. Magallon" <mmagallo@debian.org>

Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 1.0.3-2
Severity: normal

 I have:

  1 /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels [x]
  2 /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_detachable [ ]
  3 /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_have_icons [ ]
  4 /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_have_tearoff [x]
  5 /desktop/gnome/interface/toolbar_detachable [ ]

and Epiphany doesn't seem to care. This is partially:

Control Center -> Desktop Preferences -> Menus & Toolbars ->

      3 Show icons in menus [ ]
      5 Detachable toolbars [ ]

Interestingly enough, Epiphany cares about the Toolbar button labels
setting in the same dialog. Very confusing.

There's at least another application that ignores this, too (x-chat,
abiword), but Gnumeric, Gedit, Dia, MrProject, all seem to follow suit.
Looking at the list of libraries these programs use, I can't spot a
relevant difference, so I guess this is something some apps do and some
 don't.

 TIA,

 Marcelo

1 /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels [x]
Works

2 /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_detachable [ ]
Will have to wait for the Gtk appwindow, needs a good dock.

3 /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_have_icons [ ]
Gnome control centre bug, gnome-settings-demon needs to translate the key an
XSetting.

4 /desktop/gnome/interface/menubar_have_tearoff [x]
Need an XSetting and gnome-settings-demon needs to translate the gconf key to
it; see also http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120649 .

5 /desktop/gnome/interface/toolbar_detachable [ ]
Same as 2.

Mass reassigning of Epiphany bugs to epiphany-maint@b.g.o
Comment 3 Christian Persch 2005-04-07 06:47:05 UTC
*** Bug 172898 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 4 Christian Persch 2005-12-31 21:10:33 UTC
Marking as FIXED since there are bugs open for the remaining issues (toolbar detachable, tearoffs in gtkuimanager menus).
