GDM currently does not have Hindi language in language list ( locale.alias )
Hindi language is now supported in gnome 2.x, there already quite few
translations.
Following needs to be added

Hindi        hi_IN.UTF8, hi_IN

More indian languages could be added
Kannada      kn_IN.UTF-8,kn_IN
Malayalam    ml_IN.UTF-8,ml_IN
Bengali      bn_IN.UTF-8,bn_IN

Following dont have any translations yet in gnome

Gujrati      gj_IN.UTF-8,gj_IN
Punjabi      pa_IN.UTF-8,pa_IN
Oriya        or_IN.UTF-8,or_IN
Marathi      mr_IN.UTF-8,mr_IN
Telugu       te_IN.UTF-8,te_IN

There's a similar Bengali bug report now in bug 105825.

was partially fixed in cvs already, I added the ones that were missing.
