GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 95522
Screen saver prevents GOK if password set
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
The gnome screensaver appears over gok, so if there is a screensaver password(almost always the case in gnome) someone restricted to gok can be locked out of their system. This should be noted in the user docs - do not set screen saver password.
Documentation has been updated to include a note to user that they should disable screensaver password protection when using GOK.
I actually don't think this is a satisfactory solution for 'enterprise' deployment of GOK. GOK should be allowed to post on top of the screensaver.
bumping severity up; however this isn't really entirely a GOK bug, fixing it will require engineering elsewhere I expect.
Bill, has a relevant RFE or Bug been reported to the appropriate project regarding this?
no; probably a bug against xscreensaver needs to be filed. There's a small possibility that Metacity could be involved too, but I don't think so.
Adding a dependancy on a filed xscreensaver bug.
