If I use a vertical corner panel with a TaskList applet and set the minimum
size to be fairly large (say, 500), the tasks in the applet become really
tall to "auto-fill" the panel.  

I don't think this is how it should work.  The applet should remain the
same height (since being really tall doesn't display any more text) and
leave empty space for more tasks later or another applet or something. 
Really, it's just ugly.
