Description Jonathan Taylor 2002-07-27 17:07:35 UTC
Description of Problem:
When you double click a file nautilus will run the
file with default viewer but will also select the
file for renaming.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open Nautilus
2. Change to list view
3. Double click a file

Actual Results:
File is opened but also is set for renaming.

Expected Results:
File should only be opened.

How often does this happen?
All the time.

Additional Information:
Dave Camp's patch (commited July 26) for Drag and
Drop in list view probabally broke this since I
have tried it before/after the commit.
Comment 1 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-07-27 17:32:36 UTC
the list view always did this rename stuff. Dave´s dnd stuff isnt the
issue. anyway this is a dupe of bug 83552. That bug has a patch as
well that removes click to rename from the list view.

Talked to calum too about it and he approved.

<rant>
Click to rename just doesn´t work well and neither microsoft or apple
has ever gotten it right. this is just one of those things where the
direct manipulation model fails to work right. oh well.

Comment 2 Dave Camp 2002-07-27 18:01:33 UTC
no, he was talking about something different, that was broken by the
drag and drop patch.
Comment 3 Dave Camp 2002-07-27 18:02:24 UTC
... which I just checked in a fix for.
