The MIME settings in Gnome are apparently ignored for certain file types.
(I have personally only verified jpeg.) Regardless of the setting, the
system uses Electric Eyes on my desktop, and nothing on my laptop. Both
systems are running an up-to-date Debian unstable distro.

This moot in 0.12.0, which is a gtk2 release ... we'll need to
use gnome2 APIs to do this in 0.12.x...
