GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 83698
Terminals sizes diminish when gtk themes are changed
Last modified: 2011-11-25 21:23:49 UTC
I have the 30th sources from CVS. My Control center ver is 1.99.10. I see this strange behaviour of terminals reducing in size, when changing from one gtk theme to another. The change in size is very minimal. This size reduction gets more noticeable when one keeps changing the themes in quick succession. Steps: 1) Keep a couple of gnome terminals open. 2) Invoke gnome-theme-properties capplet (or Applications -> Desktop Preferences -> Theme). 3) Keep changing the theme in quick succession, by clicking on the the 'Default', 'Metal' and 'Redmond95' theme names. 4) A clear reduction in the terminals' size can be observed.
Not a theme problem.

Need to catch style_set and reset the geometry hints there.
This seems to be the case still when cycling through all themes installed on FC3.

Is this still reproducible on svn trunk?
Yes. But that's not a bug. When switching themes, the style of controls may change, and lead to a small difference in size, which forces windows to be resized.
