GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 148510
Changing theme affects terminal width
Last modified: 2005-09-19 11:43:07 UTC
Description of Problem: Terminal width changes (decreases by 1 symbol, e.g. 80->79, 79->78 and so on) when desktop theme is changed so that new theme engine's scrollbar is wider than the previous one. This is the case, for example, for Mist (wide scrollbar) and ThinIce (thin) themes, other pairs can be fond as well. Scrollbar must be enabled, it is placed on the right in my case. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Enable scrollbar in gnome-terminal, place it on the right 2. Open Themes dialog, select ThinIce theme 3. Now select Mist theme 4. (all terminal windows became one symbol narrower) Actual Results: 80 becomes 79 etc. Expected Results: 80 shold stay 80 How often does this happen? Always after steps 1-3 above. (Once a day in my case) Additional Information: I think this could be caught by making difference between [terminal black area]'s and [container with area and scrollbar]'s configure events. Just a guess.
I can reproduce this by switching to 'Simple' then 'Mist' on RH Rawhide.
I can also reproduce this, with gnome-terminal 2.7.3.
