Description Shane O'Connor 2002-05-29 15:38:41 UTC
Copy and paste using the mouse buttons in gnome-terminal is not functioning
correctly. If you highlight a block of text in one terminal and attempt to
copy and paste it using the middle mouse button in another terminal only
the very last line in the block of text is pasted.

This is the same if attempting to copy and paste text from terminal to
gedit.

To Recreate:
--------------
-start gnome-terminal
-vi a text file
-start a second gnome-terminal
-hightlight a block of text in first gnome-terminal
-using middle mouse button paste block of text to second gnome-terminal
=> only very last line is pasted successfully.

This is same if you try to paste text from terminal to gedit.

This is a libzvt bug, can you move it there after marking
83409 and 83410 as dups? No need to file bugs in triplicate. ;-)

I think you or someone else filed another bug in triplicate earlier
today...

Possibly related to bug 73412 or the 'fixes' for bug 78007?

On 10th thought...

With the gnome-terminal-1.9.6.0.200205311757-0.snap.ximian.1 snap,
selecting more than one line no longer copies anything. It used to be
that if you selected more than one line, only that last line was
copied but now nothing is.

This is related to the patch at 78007 for libzvt. I tried libzvt
without the above patch and copy/paste works fine. I see 78007
is reopend. Are some more i18n features being added to libzvt.
I am working on this bug and don't want to break any i18n features.
If the i18n thing is fixed we shall put a patch for this also.

The latest snap, gnome-terminal-1.9.7.0.200206040515-0.snap.ximian.1,
seems to fix this.
Comment 13 Luis Villa 2002-06-04 15:03:40 UTC
Removing 2.0.0 then and adding a dependency to bug 78007; whoever
takes the time to finish/rework that bug should be aware of this one.
Comment 14 José Fonseca 2002-06-05 16:28:40 UTC
This still happens with gnome-terminal-1.9.7 and libzvt-1.116.1 in Gentoo.
Comment 15 jacob berkman 2002-06-05 16:35:03 UTC
upgrade to 1.117.0

1.116.x are broken and unsupported to the extreme.
Comment 16 Shane O'Connor 2002-06-13 10:31:20 UTC
am not seeing this bug in 1.9.6 - it's a sun prebeta build with
libzvt 1.117.0

marking this as resolved fixed
Comment 17 Shane O'Connor 2002-06-13 10:32:06 UTC
marking as fix verified
