GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 82283
bogus: integrated for GNOME Browser Engine
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
I have a plan to make fully gnome-based browser engine, to replace Gecko on my desktop. and this bogus post is the place for related postings on the way. sorry to bother you master. I remember that someone did similar for an issue. if there is other place for this kind of post, pliz forward this post to the place. Thanks. all comment for gnome browser engine is welcomed. I'm just a novice gnome-ian. your advise make gnome browser engine more possible.
The GTK+ product is for tracking work on GTK+, not for things like this. So, if you need to create a tracking bug for your project, you need a product for your project. [ I should point out that I don't believe that creating a web browser using stock GTK+ widgets is possible or desirable. The mozilla toolkit is basically web layout reused for a widget toolkit, and it is an *awful* widget toolkit. Raph Levien looked at this many years ago in the context of the 'gzilla' project, and came to the conclusion that GTK+ wasn't usable and wrote his own mini-widget-set for the browser. ]
I've heard that gzilla is now dillo ( http://dillo.cipsga.org.br/ ). and dillo does minimal(but good) render for web pages. I'm sure that I know GTK+-only is just a tip of big iceberg. there are gnome-vfs for data transfer, bonobo for object embed, and many things that I can't remember this moment. some of them like GtkMathML is much useful inside gnome-intergrated browser engine. gnome has almost perfect set of each functionality for browser engine. let's mosaic them. (yeah, it's very hard work to just mosaic.. ;)
well, I think that reassigning this post to me is the way not to bother you. eh, how can I append a product on bugzilla?
You probably have the permissions to do it (click on Products in the footer), but the best thing to do is to mail bugmaster@gnome.org to make sure that your product name is OK. Assigning the bug to yourself doesn't help me. When tracking GTK+ bugs, I need to look at all GTK+ bugs, regardless of who is working on them.
