GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 790162
Feature request: Option to display previous message on delete
Last modified: 2017-11-30 09:49:49 UTC
Hi, I like to sort my Inbox with newest messages at the top. I read oldest to newest moving up. I delete lots of emails while I'm traversing but whenever I delete it goes down to the message I just read. Then I click the arrow to go up and it usually goes back to the deleted message which appears strikethrough for a few seconds, then goes back down, then I click the arrow again to go back up 1 message. This is really annoying to my workflow. Can I please have an option so that when I delete a message it just goes UP to the next unread message. In Outlook I think theres an option Drop down, with "Select previous message" etc - whatever its called its an option to control the direction UP or DOWN after a delete. Cheers, Paul
Thanks for a bug report. Would it make sense to make evolution a bit smarter and move to the next message only if the top-level sort field is ascending and if it's descending, then move it to the previous message in the list instead? That way there will not be needed any option and it'll follow the sort settings order. I'm not against the option, I'm only wondering whether it can be derived from other, already existing, option.
I just realized that the option had been added only recently. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 787612 ***
