Description christophe.vda 2017-11-03 21:59:40 UTC
Hello. I love the fact that annotations and highlighting was added to Evince, this made me switch back from Okular for my university documents. The only problem I have is that highlighting a lot of words in a document is still not very streamlined as I constantly need to reselect the annotation button after every higlighted line. A possible solution is using a keyboard shortcut for the higlighting button, or even better: a highlighting mode that keeps highlight annotations selected after highlights have been made. Thank you very much for your time.

That request is covered in bug #753603 (Add a keyboard shortcut for annotations) [1].

One of our users asked for that too.

I updated the summary to narrow the issue to the part that is not covered in bug #753603

Marking this one as duplicate of Bug #790618 (although the latter is newer, it has more information).

Do not cancel annotation mode after highlighting

Previously, if user wanted to highlight multiple text segments,
she needed to press the highlight button before each highlighting.

This commit keeps the annotation mode enabled until user cancels it
manually, allowing a better highlighting flow.

Of course, I attached it to the wrong bug.
