Nowadays, many thumbnails for my events were missing.
I put the thumbnails folder to the dustbin, so they were built again for the photo but I have no one for the events.

Shotwell 0.26.3
Ubuntu 64 bits 17.10 Wayland (upgraded from 17.04 - fresh install was 16.04)

Thanks for taking the time to report this.
This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

There is a work-around:In the image overview, zoom to the max and scroll through your images. That should get them re-created.
