GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 788519
crash while loading messages
Last modified: 2017-10-26 07:00:10 UTC
This issue was discussed in these places: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/geary-list/2017-August/msg00000.html https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=726276 (search folder holds deleted messages) I can reproduce it easily: I search a "popular" keyword in my account, so I get lots of messages and then I start scrolling down; after a while Geary crashes. Here's the backtrace. Let me know if you need more information. Thread 1 "geary" received signal SIGUSR1, User defined signal 1. 0x00007fffef3d4acd in poll () from /lib64/libc.so.6 Missing separate debuginfos, use: dnf debuginfo-install GConf2-3.2.6-17.fc26.x86_64 at-spi2-atk-2.24.1-1.fc26.x86_64 at-spi2-core-2.24.1-1.fc26.x86_64 atk-2.24.0-1.fc26.x86_64 bzip2-libs-1.0.6-22.fc26.x86_64 cairo-1.14.10-1.fc26.x86_64 cairo-gobject-1.14.10-1.fc26.x86_64 dbus-glib-0.108-2.fc26.x86_64 dbus-libs-1.11.18-1.fc26.x86_64 dconf-0.26.0-2.fc26.x86_64 elfutils-libelf-0.169-1.fc26.x86_64 enchant-1.6.0-16.fc26.x86_64 expat-2.2.4-1.fc26.x86_64 fontconfig-2.12.5-1.fc26.x86_64 freetype-2.7.1-9.fc26.x86_64 gcr-3.20.0-4.fc26.x86_64 gdk-pixbuf2-2.36.9-1.fc26.x86_64 gdk-pixbuf2-modules-2.36.9-1.fc26.x86_64 glib-networking-2.50.0-2.fc26.x86_64 gmime-2.6.23-2.fc26.x86_64 gmp-6.1.2-4.fc26.x86_64 gnutls-3.5.15-1.fc26.x86_64 gobject-introspection-1.52.1-1.fc26.x86_64 gpgme-1.8.0-12.fc26.x86_64 graphite2-1.3.10-1.fc26.x86_64 gstreamer1-1.12.2-1.fc26.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-1.12.2-1.fc26.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-base-1.12.2-1.fc26.x86_64 gvfs-client-1.32.1-2.fc26.x86_64 harfbuzz-1.4.4-1.fc26.x86_64 harfbuzz-icu-1.4.4-1.fc26.x86_64 hunspell-1.5.4-2.fc26.x86_64 hyphen-2.8.8-6.fc26.x86_64 keyutils-libs-1.5.10-1.fc26.x86_64 krb5-libs-1.15.1-28.fc26.x86_64 libICE-1.0.9-9.fc26.x86_64 libSM-1.2.2-5.fc26.x86_64 libX11-1.6.5-2.fc26.x86_64 libXau-1.0.8-7.fc26.x86_64 libXcomposite-0.4.4-9.fc26.x86_64 libXcursor-1.1.14-8.fc26.x86_64 libXdamage-1.1.4-9.fc26.x86_64 libXext-1.3.3-5.fc26.x86_64 libXfixes-5.0.3-2.fc26.x86_64 libXi-1.7.9-2.fc26.x86_64 libXinerama-1.1.3-7.fc26.x86_64 libXrandr-1.5.1-2.fc26.x86_64 libXrender-0.9.10-2.fc26.x86_64 libXt-1.1.5-4.fc26.x86_64 libassuan-2.4.3-2.fc26.x86_64 libblkid-2.30.2-1.fc26.x86_64 libcanberra-0.30-13.fc26.x86_64 libcap-2.25-5.fc26.x86_64 libcom_err-1.43.4-2.fc26.x86_64 libcroco-0.6.12-1.fc26.x86_64 libcrypt-nss-2.25-10.fc26.x86_64 libdatrie-0.2.9-4.fc26.x86_64 libdrm-2.4.82-1.fc26.x86_64 libepoxy-1.4.3-1.fc26.x86_64 libffi-3.1-12.fc26.x86_64 libgcc-7.2.1-2.fc26.x86_64 libgcrypt-1.7.8-1.fc26.x86_64 libgee-0.20.0-1.fc26.x86_64 libglvnd-0.2.999-24.20170818git8d4d03f.fc26.x86_64 libglvnd-egl-0.2.999-24.20170818git8d4d03f.fc26.x86_64 libglvnd-gles-0.2.999-24.20170818git8d4d03f.fc26.x86_64 libglvnd-glx-0.2.999-24.20170818git8d4d03f.fc26.x86_64 libgpg-error-1.25-2.fc26.x86_64 libicu-57.1-6.fc26.x86_64 libidn2-2.0.4-1.fc26.x86_64 libjpeg-turbo-1.5.1-0.fc26.x86_64 libmodman-2.0.1-13.fc26.x86_64 libmount-2.30.2-1.fc26.x86_64 libnotify-0.7.7-2.fc26.x86_64 libogg-1.3.2-6.fc26.x86_64 libpng-1.6.28-2.fc26.x86_64 libproxy-0.4.15-2.fc26.x86_64 librsvg2-2.40.18-1.fc26.x86_64 libsecret-0.18.5-3.fc26.x86_64 libselinux-2.6-7.fc26.x86_64 libsoup-2.58.2-1.fc26.x86_64 libstdc++-7.2.1-2.fc26.x86_64 libtasn1-4.12-1.fc26.x86_64 libtdb-1.3.13-1.fc26.x86_64 libthai-0.1.25-2.fc26.x86_64 libtool-ltdl-2.4.6-17.fc26.x86_64 libunistring-0.9.7-1.fc26.x86_64 libuuid-2.30.2-1.fc26.x86_64 libvorbis-1.3.5-2.fc26.x86_64 libwayland-client-1.13.0-1.fc26.x86_64 libwayland-cursor-1.13.0-1.fc26.x86_64 libwayland-server-1.13.0-1.fc26.x86_64 libwebp-0.6.0-2.fc26.x86_64 libxcb-1.12-3.fc26.x86_64 libxkbcommon-0.7.1-3.fc26.x86_64 libxml2-2.9.4-2.fc26.x86_64 libxshmfence-1.2-4.fc26.x86_64 libxslt-1.1.29-1.fc26.x86_64 llvm-libs-4.0.1-1.fc26.x86_64 lz4-libs-1.8.0-1.fc26.x86_64 mesa-dri-drivers-17.1.7-1.fc26.x86_64 mesa-libEGL-17.1.7-1.fc26.x86_64 mesa-libgbm-17.1.7-1.fc26.x86_64 mesa-libglapi-17.1.7-1.fc26.x86_64 mesa-libwayland-egl-17.1.7-1.fc26.x86_64 ncurses-libs-6.0-8.20170212.fc26.x86_64 nettle-3.3-2.fc26.x86_64 nss-mdns-0.10-18.fc26.x86_64 nss-softokn-freebl-3.32.0-1.2.fc26.x86_64 orc-0.4.27-1.fc26.x86_64 p11-kit-0.23.8-1.fc26.x86_64 pango-1.40.12-1.fc26.x86_64 pcre-8.41-1.fc26.x86_64 pixman-0.34.0-3.fc26.x86_64 sqlite-libs-3.20.1-1.fc26.x86_64 systemd-libs-233-6.fc26.x86_64 webkitgtk4-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 webkitgtk4-jsc-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 xz-libs-5.2.3-2.fc26.x86_64 zlib-1.2.11-2.fc26.x86_64 (gdb) [K(gdb) (gdb) (gdb) (gdb) backtrace full

Hey Federico, per my reply to the mailing list, the break on SIGUSR1 in the stack above is caused by WebKitGTK using that signal to communicate with the web process. If you can still reproduce this after executing "handle SIGUSR1 noprint" in gdb before running here, an updated stack would help.
Hey Mike, unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue right now, even if it seemed easy to be reproduced... Perhaps it's a network issue? But I don't think so, as I'm connected through a wired cable and didn't have any issue. I've also checked if anything related to webkitgtk changed in my system in the last week, but that's not the case: $ rpm -qa --last | grep -i webkit webkitgtk4-plugin-process-gtk2-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 lun 02 ott 2017 10:09:51 CEST webkitgtk4-devel-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 lun 02 ott 2017 10:09:48 CEST webkitgtk4-jsc-devel-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 lun 02 ott 2017 10:09:26 CEST webkitgtk4-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 lun 02 ott 2017 10:09:26 CEST webkitgtk4-jsc-2.18.0-1.fc26.x86_64 lun 02 ott 2017 10:09:22 CEST
Okay, well I'll close this for the moment, if you get another instance of this happening, do let me know. Cheers!
