Description Charles Lindsay 2014-03-13 19:42:45 UTC
If you delete something from the search folder, it seems to get properly deleted from the server, but stays in the search folder.

I thought we had a ticket for this, but I can't find it now. I think we've known for a while that the search folder doesn't always update itself properly. This wasn't a huge deal before because you didn't have the option to delete from anywhere, but now you do, so it's visible.

I've tried deleting some conversations in the search folder and the list updates itself immediately.
I was about to write that maybe this bug should be closed but after a while geary crashed while I was deleting conversations.
Comment 2 Federico Bruni 2015-09-26 08:45:24 UTC
I cannot reproduce the crashes that I had in April. I'm using current master.
I think that this can be closed.

As a side note, deleting emails in the search folder is not so straightforward. Is it by design to avoid irreparable errors?

- the Canc key doesn't work and there's no keyboard shortcut, as far as I know
- the X symbol on top right (besides of archive), which deletes the conversation, reminds me canceling an ongoing action more than deleting something. But I understand that it must be different from the move to trash icon...
Comment 3 Federico Bruni 2017-08-02 16:10:55 UTC
I hit this again.
I'm getting a segfault, while deleting conversations listed on a search result.

$ geary

** (geary:30251): ERROR **: app-conversation-set.vala:122: Couldn't add duplicate email [5594/null/2015-11-26T09:28:40+0100] to conversation [#79] (1 emails)
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dump creato)

Can we change the subject of this bug to "crash while deleting messages in the search folder".
Or should I open a new one and close this one?

For the records, I started a discussion here also:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/geary-list/2017-August/msg00000.html

As I wrote there, the crash is probably related to the loading of messages
Comment 5 Michael Gratton 2018-04-14 06:45:44 UTC
Federico, that sounds like a different bug - if you are still experiencing it, please do open a new bug.
Comment 6 Federico Bruni 2018-04-14 09:45:51 UTC
Then what is this issue about? Which error can you reproduce?

I've tried the following:

1. I search something, then go to the inbox to delete one of the messages listed in the search results, then go back to the search results and I cannot find that message anymore. Correct.

2. I delete a message directly in the search folder. It disappears from the list also in this case. Correct.

So I don't see what we are discussing here.

By the way, I should correct my comment above.
Shift+Canc shortcut works fine in the search results.
(Thanks to the new Keyboard Shortcut window it's eay to remind.)

If this is still a problem, it's covered by https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/geary/-/issues/188 more generally, so closing in favour of that.
