GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 782456
A setting for "Never download remote images, don't even ask"
Last modified: 2019-03-17 04:32:19 UTC
When viewing a mail that contains remote images, you always get a notification bar (formerly yellow, now blue). That can be moderately annoying. E.g. mails from GitHub always contain some remote images (for whatever reason) -- so there you are with your dozen threaded pull request notifications and each contains such a bar taking up screen space. Would be possible to include a setting in Geary to never ask and never download such images? (I would also take something that is only exposed via Dconf because I know that each exposed option weighs down the UI more and I also know that this is certainly not the most important setting to a lot of people.)
Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds like you're looking for a global pref, but if so then you would never see remote messages from any sender, maybe unless something like the contact popover (Bug 771642) was implemented to allow the global pref to be over-ridden on a per-sender basis. Or are you actually be looking for a per-sender, or per-domain setting, again something that would likely be managed from the contact popover?
