GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 781853
Remove VTE bindings
Last modified: 2018-05-22 15:48:24 UTC
Upstream added a commit to generate the VAPIs on 31 March 2014: https://git.gnome.org/browse/vte/commit/?id=080c8b4d88ec33597e71c4b4822fc784f9bc97e4 Vala carries both a vte.vapi and a vte-2.90.vapi
vte.vapi is the old gtk+-2.0 api, and vte-2.90 the old gtk+-3.0 api; upstream only provides a vapi for the vte 2.91 api.
(In reply to Christian Persch from comment #1) > vte.vapi is the old gtk+-2.0 api, and vte-2.90 the old gtk+-3.0 api; > upstream only provides a vapi for the vte 2.91 api. So that probably means keeping vte.vapi for as long as we keep gtk+-2.0.vapi. At the moment Vala requires a minimum GLib of 2.32, released 24 March 2012. So bindings upstreamed before 24 March 2012 have been removed. When we bump the minimum GLib requirement then we'll review the bindings again. This bug tracks that for VTE. Looks like VTE 2.90 has already been dropped from a number of distros, both Ubuntu and Arch in this report: https://github.com/oakes/SolidOak/issues/53 and a projects are switching to 2.91, e.g.: https://github.com/geany/geany/issues/336
