works for me on linux. Is this solaris specific?
Comment 2 Diego Gonzalez 2002-04-07 17:56:41 UTC
This bug might be already solved, i think that the background capplet
changed from gnome2-background-properties to
gnome-background-properties when Seth's impl. when back in. It should
work.
Comment 3 Anand 2002-04-08 03:21:43 UTC
Dave: Yes. This is solaris specific.

Rewording the summary to make it solaris specific
Comment 4 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-04-08 03:42:31 UTC
anand and all wipro hackers in general:

please make a point of marking all solaris specific bugs in this
manner, and please specify in the report that a bug is solaris
specific. This will prevent me and other linux bug hunters from
accidentally closing your bugs. thanks.
Comment 5 Luis Villa 2002-04-10 00:39:05 UTC
dimes to dollars this is an installation problem. Can you run
gnome-background-properties from the command line?
Comment 6 Anand 2002-04-10 03:21:24 UTC
Louie: Yeah. The gnome2 background properties window come up fine
from the command line. Is this a generic installation problem ?

Can anyone else reproduce this ?
Comment 7 John Fleck 2002-04-10 03:47:18 UTC
Hackish testing shows me that Nautilus is calling
"gnome-background-properties", not "gnome2-background-properties",
which was its previous name. Anand, is it possible your control-center
is not as up-to-date as your Nautilus?

Comment 8 Luis Villa 2002-05-01 11:29:35 UTC
NEEDINFO. Anand?
Comment 9 Anand 2002-05-02 08:54:32 UTC
Sorry for the delay John, Louie.

I ain't seeing this in the latest Solaris snapshots.

But the moment I open the background properties capplet, I get a
error dialog window, which goes like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Couldn't find the file '/usr/share/nautilus/patterns/dark-gnome.jpg'.

Please make sure it exists and try again, or choose a different
background picture.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm having my Gnome 2 binaries under "/opt/gnome-2.0/*", and I'm able
to locate the "dark-gnome.jpg" file under /opt/gnome-
2.0/share/nautilus. Should I make settings elsewhere to prevent
seeing this dialog? Or is this a bug?

I'm seeing this problems on Linux platforms as well. Changing
Platform to Linux.

Reopening / rewording this bug at the moment. Will close if this is a
configuration problem.
Comment 10 Alexander Larsson 2002-05-02 19:46:05 UTC
I think that filename is the default setting for the background in the
background gconf schemas file. If should probably be changed to use
$prefix instead of hardcoding /usr.
