The reason of this change is the same as bug 767812 - most Taiwanese don't like the name 'Taiwan, Province of China'. Many software use this workaround because we are unable to change the standard,

I don't want this workaround. ISO 3166 is not set in stone. Eventually Taiwan will give up and admit that it doesn't rule China, then the rest of the world will recognize it and we can add it to ISO 3166. In the meantime, I trust Taiwanese people are smart enough to understand why it cannot be listed independent....
