GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 768148
GIMP can't be run, message is "GIMP can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer"
Last modified: 2016-12-31 20:04:13 UTC
Gimp will not download on my macbook pro. I get this message: GIMP” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. How can I correct this?
https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18657?locale=en_US In short, 1. Find the application in Finder. 2. Ctrl-Click the application, and choose "Open". This will override the default behavior and allow you to launch an app from an "untrusted" developer. You should only need to do this once. After the first time, the app will then be available to open as usual.
I'm going to close this unless there's more information. Otherwise its just a permissions issue on OSX I think.
This just happened to me a few minutes ago. I downloaded https://download.gimp.org/mirror/pub/gimp/v2.8/osx/gimp-2.8.18-x86_64-1.dmg and have and MD5 of b86d3b884011b931408c6233d71ee41a which matches the MD5 listed on https://www.gimp.org/downloads/ However, I receive the following error when trying to execute GIMP.app: "GIMP.app" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the App Store and identified developers. Firefox.app downloaded this file today at 12:18 PM. Is your signing key expired?
