Description Jo 2016-02-13 11:22:34 UTC
Gimp shows tabs with thumbnails in the main window even with only one image open, since version 2.8.16.

Please give us users an option to display open images as titles rather than thumbnail-tabs. The thumbs are small but eat nevertheless a ton of worthy work space - a "luxury element" that Gimp doesnt need at all-not now, not ever. Apart that, its distracting and make me cry.
I think its self-explanatory why im asking this…option. Please add titles instead of thumbs! at least, give us users an option to change between titles and thumbs.

displaying a tab for just one open picture is very useles. Where do you want to click, if no other image is open in the tab-list ? this change was probably done just to save/simplify code lines, and i can understand it to some point, but its nevertheless not funny.

id love, if you could add (configurable) tabs in: General preferences>Image window>Rendering (Einstellungen>Bildfenster>Darstellung)
to get rid of tabs -in fullscreen mode- at least. I consider this feature -in fullscreen mode- as very distracting, aggressive and useless luxury (workspace eater). Moreover, fullscreen mode is all about focusing on -one goal-, instead to multitask on multiple images. I expect to see only my painting in fullscreen mode and the dock, and this dock, only on demand. Please keep fullscreen mode clean!

… to access not-visible tabs we can still rely on the shortcut: alt+tab. For all others that wish to have tabs always displayed, they could set a checkmark to display tabs in general preferences, as suggested before, in the first paragraph (sorry if it is self-referencing)

tabs just for one open image are a pain in the ***.
tabs in fullscreen mode are not appropriate because with fullscreen I mean fullscreen and focus on one image solely, not more stuff.
For the guys and gals who *need* to have every option always on-sceen I suggest to add an option in general preferences (Einstellungen>Darstellung)

Please change this, as highlighted in comment 1
Please!
