evince maximized with no thumbnails in sidebare even by multipage pdf

when evince window is maximized the thumbnails from sidepanel disappear. intermittently they appear again after a click somewhere in the window area but mostly you need to resize the sidepanel to get the thumbnails to appear again. on Fedora 23, v. 3.18.2. Attached screenshot.
