Description Jon Dufresne 2014-05-29 14:13:14 UTC
As I'm not sure if this is a bug with Firefox or Gnome. I also filed a bug with Firefox: <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1017362>

Steps to reproduce:

Firefox 29.0.1

Linux localhost.localdomain 3.14.4-200.fc20.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue May 13 13:51:08 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Using Gnome 3.10 on Fedora 20.

1. Open several tabs in Firefox
2. In the top right Gnome 3 menu choose "Log Out"
3. Log in to Gnome 3
4. Start Firefox

Actual results:

At this point I am presented with the "Well this is embarrassing..." page listing my tabs. This indicates (to me) Firefox was not shut down cleanly.

Expected results:

As Gnome 3 should shut down applications cleanly, my tabs should have been restored as normal without the "Well this is embarrassing..." page.

Closing Firefox through the normal application close menu item does not lead to this behavior.

---

Comment from Firefox bug:

> As Gnome 3 should shut down applications cleanly, my tabs should have been
> restored as normal without the "Well this is embarrassing..." page.

Have you verified that this is actually the case (ie, does Gnome 3 actually shut Firefox down cleanly, and can you define "cleanly" more precisely? Some would say that sending a SIGKILL is making a clean job of it, but... ;-) )
