GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 794869
Gnome3 (Restart, Shutdown) unGracefully
Last modified: 2020-10-30 14:20:46 UTC
Arch linux, GDM / Gnome, Xorg. When choosing Shutdown, Restart Gnome kills running apps resulting in un-graceful shutdown of programs. I am thinking of two apps in particular: google-chrome guake If you run google-chrome from a terminal and shutdown with ctrl-c, it shuts down gracefully. If you choose restart. shutdown from gnome shell it does not. The same goes for guake, loosing bash_history.
Why is this a GNOME problem and not a Google Chrome problem?
It might not be, what signal is sent on restart / shutdown?
See also threads like e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/3iq2mx/how_do_you_close_chrome_gracefully_in_gnome/ - this is probably a better question for a support forum like https://discourse.gnome.org/
