GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 728434
Search Provider for GNOME Shell
Last modified: 2018-01-10 14:40:18 UTC
It would be nice if we could search music via GNOME Shell, like Software, Terminal and other GNOME Core Apps currently have. Something we could work on Search for GNOME 3.14 Cycle as enhancement if we have time. Not sure if the designers have any plans for this, added Allan to CC.

It's certainly desirable from a design point of view, and we have established design patterns for how it should work. Shell search is intended to be a way of hooking into existing search capabilities provided by the application: the search results in the shell should be the same as those in the app, and selecting a result from the shell should take you to the corresponding result in the app. However, I don't think we can do this until we have global search in Music: since the search results in the shell are provided as a single list, and that needs to mirror how search is presented in the app.
We have global search now, so it would be great to have a search provider.
This would require checking URL as a start param I guess.
3.18 is over, so removing the target-milestone.
