Description Jim Nelson 2014-02-10 22:51:17 UTC
It appears that in Saucy Ubuntu broke out Shotwell into two packages, shotwell and shotwell-common (on top of the debug symbols package). The shotwell-common package holds all our icons, Glade files, resources, help pages, and more.

However, when upgrading from our PPA to Ubuntu's, the user gets a cryptic warning about overwriting a file created by a separate package:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/405862/trying-to-overwrite-file-already-in-shotwell-common-package-while-installing-s

We need to either fix or work around this problem.

I don't think I'm going to have time to do this. Ultimately I think the fix is for us to mimic Ubuntu's packaging names. However, that alone won't fix people using Yorba's PPA today.

Package "shotwell" in Yorba's regular PPA and Daily Build PPA are now marked as Conflicts/Replaces Ubuntu's shotwell-common.
