GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 720107
gnumeric GUI problem: unused area in chart client, very small display area
Last modified: 2013-12-10 07:35:51 UTC
Created attachment 263818 [details] example for GUI problem: space in GUI interface not used First of all: thanks a lot for compiling the new gnumeric line 1.12 for Windows! I am very glad to be able to format axis titles as subscripts, which was one of the most problematic issues in the past. However, am experiencing severe problems with the GUI of gnumeric in its latest windows build (1.12.9). When opening the diagram/chart insertion client, there seems to be a problem with the formatting and scale of the client: The size of the box itself is okay, but when changing properties of the chart, only a small part of the box area is actually used to display the property sliders, input fields and scroll bars. Please check the attachment to find an example for the problem. Furthermore, some of the symbols (like the arrows to change the size of the symbols in the graph) seem not to be implemented correctly, since the symbols are replaced by dummies. The latter is also visible in the example in the attachment. This problem causes plenty of difficulties when trying to modify the graph formatting, as you can surely imagine.
I forgot to mention: the problem also occured in the experimental win32-build of version 1.12.8
I'd take a guess that this is really an issue with gtk 3.9+
When one creates a chart, I don't see any difference between the appearance of under Windows 8.1 and what I see in Linux. Only when reopening the properties dialog do I see what the original screenshot shows, and even then it depends on which item is selected in the tree view.
