Description romu 2013-10-16 11:50:35 UTC
Pretty simple: would be great to see Tomboy sync notes with OwnCloud.

Thanks.

We will better support storing notes on a remote location. I wonder if it would be good enough to just point Tomboy to the location of your ownCloud client. Then you wouldn't have to wait for someone to implement the API calls. Thoughts?

ownCloud supports webdav. You should be able to have your Tomboy folder there, I can test this if you want.

When syncing Tomboy notes with OwnCloud, does it matter what type of version of Tomboy notes OwnCloud syncs with?
Comment 4 romu 2013-10-17 07:34:29 UTC
@PYL : You again ;-)

tgmiller5 raises a pretty good point. As PYL said, the notes are sync using webdav. There are some apps able to sync notes with OwnCloud:
- An OwnCloud apps : http://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.php?content=155599
- Meego/Sailfish KhtNotes : http://khertan.net/pages/khtnotes
- PYL Gnome Notes (aka Bijiben) : https://wiki.gnome.org/action/show/Apps/Bijiben
- Android Papyrus : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kallisto.papyrusex
- zNotes on Windows and Linux : http://sourceforge.net/projects/znotes/

So the critical point is to ensure these apps are compliant in the way they sync with OwnCloud. One Tomboy note, once sync, should be readable and editable within KhtNotes for instance. And, of course, in the other direction.

https://github.com/owncloud/notes/ is their online editor.

It stores data in a "Notes" folder - plain text notes files. Might support markdown eventually (https://github.com/owncloud/notes/issues/5)

In both cases ("just point Tomboy to the location") there is no API, just webdav.

Here's a markdown library: https://code.google.com/p/markdownsharp/
I know Stefen was asking about supporting Markdown. It would make it a lot easier for Tomdroid.
