GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 708960
Incorrect import from MusicBrainz for multi-CD albums
Last modified: 2013-09-27 22:07:09 UTC
Created attachment 255959 [details] Screenshot taken with CD 5 inserted and showing the track names and lengths from CD1 and 2 I have created the 10-CD GTD Live release on MusicBrainz [0], and submitted the Disc IDs using Rhythmbox. When I insert one of the 10 disks, Rhythmbox correctly detects this to be one of these 10, but it actually only works properly for CD number 1. All the other CDs get the correct number of tracks, but the names (and the duration!) of the tracks are displayed as starting from CD1 track 1. See attached screenshot, made inserting CD number 5 [1]. You would expect track number one to be called "Processing into GTD lists" and lasting 4:38, but instead the first track is called "Introduction" and is displayed as lasting 10:41. CD5 has 8 tracks, and the names and duration of these tracks are being displayed: 1. CD1 Track 1 2. CD1 Track 2 3. CD1 Track 3 4. CD2 Track 1 5. CD2 Track 2 6. CD2 Track 3 7. CD2 Track 4 8. CD2 Track 5 CD 1 has 3 tracks and CD 2 has 7. Not sure if this can help debug, but Disk ID for this CD 5 is "YU5LeNpR77SWmJ8IdLVAUXeI5.E-" [2] (without the quotes). Not sure if you can temporarily plug this in in debug mode to reproduce, without physically having the CD at hand. I think that Rhythmbox is somehow receiving the data from the API for the whole 10-CD set, and loops over the first N number of tracks (N being the number of tracks on the inserted CD)? As you will see in the screenshot, the Disk number ("Disque" in French) stays empty, another hint to the fact that Rhythmbox parses the data without realizing there are multiple CDs. What I expected to see: The 8 tracks would have the correct name as known at MusicBrainz for CD 5, not changing the track length, and having the Disk number automatically be populated with the value 5. Running (not the latest, sorry) 2.96 on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS. The CD set is on loan, I will not keep it for very long, but assume this is reproducible with other multi-CD albums, or using the Disk ID I mention. Thanks for looking into this. This was fixed in 2.97 which was released over a year ago. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 668395 ***
