commit 0fee4cca81dd46c8308c7ea45540fbe3a760398a
Author: Robert Ancell <robert.ancell@gmail.com>
Date: Tue Apr 20 19:40:03 2010 +1000

Always Sudoku generate puzzles in the background, they don't cost any signif
icant CPU and there is no need to prompt the user

The above commit removed the ability to manually generate puzzles, so what should
a user do when faced with:

$ gnome-sudoku
WARNING: Not able to provide 1 puzzles in levels ['hard']
WARNING: Generate more puzzles if you really need this many puzzles!
WARNING: Repeating puzzle for difficulty hard -- generate more puzzles to avoid this.

? (Version 3.8.1)

This should never happen, so the user should report a bug. :) Thanks for doing so, and sorry for the delay.

I'm running xubuntu 14.04 and this is still here. It won't generate new puzzles.

** (gnome-sudoku:9979): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-EKpCgxP4OG: Connection refused
WARNING: Not able to provide 1 puzzles in levels ['hard']
WARNING: Generate more puzzles if you really need this many puzzles!
WARNING: Repeating puzzle for difficulty hard -- generate more puzzles to avoid this.

I got it to work by checking "Include games you've played ..." . I assume this means there are no new games being generated. There is no error message either, I thought it was a printer problem.

In addition to 580055, this bug is reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-sudoku/+bug/666887
and here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=797413
also.

This issue was fixed in Sudoku 3.14. Looks like Xubuntu 14.04 has only Sudoku 3.10.
