GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 701023
User icon not scaled in user list.
Last modified: 2013-06-15 00:15:15 UTC
The user icon in the user list in the Shell-based GDM login screen does not get scaled in the box defined for it in the default GNOME Shell theme, resulting in a centred and cropped image if the user's icon is larger than the space defined. This can be easily fixed by adding the line "background-size: contain" in the ".login-dialog-user-list-item-icon" definition of the default theme's CSS file. Just thought I'd mention this since it's been that way since GNOME 3.8 first came out and does not appear to have been fixed yet, though it is a fairly trivial issue.
Hi Alex. How did you set your user image? What are its dimensions?
I set my user icon using the Users applet in GNOME Control Center, it's a 192x192 pixel image. I make sure I always select the entire image to be used as my icon when I set it, since by default it would crop the image to a smaller section of the image. I might also note there is a .face image in my Home folder from since this installation was first set up quite some time ago, and it appears to be a 150x150 pixel image scaled down from the image I set as my icon. Does GNOME still create/use this file?
Looks like a duplicate of bug 690673 . Let me know if it's not. :) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 690673 ***
